Default 1st Birthday Celebration

On May 16th 2009, Dragon Tavern turns one year old from our official launch, so strap on your party hats, fill your tankards and grab yourself a wench, this one's gonna be epic.

Because I know you're all keen to hear what cool things we have for you, I'll get straight to the birthday loot (and no, you don't have to open the birthday card first).

For this week, we'll be giving out double the number of free daily AP to everyone, to make sure everyone has even more time to enjoy playing the game. Twice as much beating up stuff, twice as much loot to gather, and twice as many chances to get some of that XP debt you all love.

Secondly, any purchase of credits will result in double the number of credits awarded. That's right, twice as many! So if you've been contemplating contributing to the game financially and helping us host the servers, pay the bills, and keep the beer taps running, you'll never have a better time than now to do it and get the most bang for your buck.

Now for a wander down memory lane, which I'm sure would be longer if we hadn't lost most of our memory from excessive inebriation. Luckily, I scribbled down some notes on a napkin.

Dragon Tavern was a hobby/idea turned into something more. We've done better so far than we could have hoped, but there's still a long way to go until we finish adding things to this title.

Since launching, we've added several new areas, on average one per quarter, and we're still on track to release one in Q2 2009.

We've added in an ultimate levels system, which we did not think we'd need for at least a year from launch (little did we know you guys would level up so fast!).

An extensive drinks selection has been added to the game, for those who prefer something other than the usual ale, beer, ale routine.

Some strange mumbo jumbo to do with star signs and generations was added fairly recently, allowing players to see how well they're doing against those who started their adventuring career around the same time. This is in addition to many other ranking, stats and leader board systems we've put in place. We love stats, and we know you guys do too.

As well, we've added new gambling games, graphical updates to the menus, and attempted to streamline the gameplay experience as possible (a lot of this thanks to the feedback provided in forums). Oh and lets not forget all those tasty looking new advantages you can buy from the shady dealer. He's not such a bad guy once you get to know him, we promise!

Lastly, we've been adding in a lot more artwork into the game for the different sublocations you'll find while stumbling through dangerous places half drunk looking for baddies to knuckle sandwich.

As you can see, this is very much a work in progress, but we're only at the tip of what's in store. With many online games, the first block of time after launch is often devoted to technical refinement and stability, which has been the case with us as well. Many improvements behind the scenes have gone on, notably allowing us to scale our hosting up quickly as user numbers skyrocket unexpectedly.

Now however, we feel as though we've got the game to a point where stability and performance are not a concern (and have not been for some time), so we can focus on adding new gameplay elements.

We'd like to thank you all for playing our game, and hope you continue to do so, and let your friends know about it. Keep those suggestions and comments coming in the forums (we do read them, honest) and keep an eye on the announcements area for some more big news coming soon.

Just a quick note to say that this offer has now finished.

Thank you all for making DT's birthday extra special. With all the extra AP floating around, we experienced some of our highest simultaneous player numbers ever, which was great to see! We really couldn't even keep up with the recent happenings list when trying to watch it in real time.
