Well, unfortunately my phone is not smart enough for posting anything, but what Q says is quite true nonetheless. When I joined near the tail-end of 2008, the RP community was quite active in the Bard's Table and I participated in many of the PbP threads with Q, Wyeel, and several others for a couple of years, albeit with three different characters

But, as time passed, children were born, and RL took more precedence than ever, and places like a online "forums" begin to fade into the background. It wasn't so much that the interest was lost (for many of us), but time to really put aside for posting something worth reading. Sure, you could take the path of least resistance and post just to post, but then you end up with nothing good to show for it and everyone reading it and going "huh?"

But, the fact that DT is still standing the test of time and lack of forum community as it once did is actually pretty awesome because those of us that still want to jump into a story thread and post, still have a place to call home.

I'm still active and have been for a couple years now off and on though I only joined the forum a couple days ago. I really hope this place doesn't die anytime soon, I love games where you actually have to use imagination to have fun. I've spent quite a bit of time playing rogue likes such as ADOM and dungeon crawl stone soup

That's always good to hear.

But, I suspect there are a lot more players "playing the game" than there are visitors to the forum. - Which can be very slow at times.

It's always been a pretty small percentage of players that visit forums. I imagine a lot of players don't realise the forums exist.

Mhh... I think a community will only die if you let it die. It's like a campfire, to keep it going, you just need to refuel it. To keep your head above water, you need to advertise heavily, constantly work on new features, regularly organize events and contests, keep the crowd awake and interested.

There are also many ways to attract people in the forums: Offline contests for ingame rewards, consistent guides and faqs, in-game credits for the best RP essays, etc...

I personally believe that activity depends on the admin side, sadly, we players can only sit and watch our favorite game die.
