Default Trialling "Offers for Credits" again

Good Morning!

I've just re-enabled "Offers for Credits" in the area where you can buy new credits. These allow you to complete "offers" in exchange to credits.

Some of you may recall we tried a similar thing around a year ago, which I ultimately disabled because it was giving too many misleading and deceptive offers.

The reason I've re-enabled it is I've found a new provider that tries to ensure its offers are straightforward and don't spam. From what I've seen the offers do seem much more straightforward, clearly explaining what they involve, and without those dodgy "free" mobile phone offers etc.

Anyhow, this is a trial -- please take a look and let me know what you think, good or bad!

Thanks,

DM.

Tried one out, some sort of college scholarship search thing.

Finished it, though it pained me to do so. Received no credits so far. Verdict - I hate surveys.

EDIT: After logging in again, it seems I have indeed received 32 nice shiny credits. But I still hate surveys.

Still looks very fishy though.

What exactly do they "do" with your address data, email, etc etc?

I don't mind filling in a few surveys, but having to give up your personal info for that.... is... giving me second thoughts about it. And I doubt I'm the only one on that.

Indeed. Loathe though I am to give out personal data, the site I got credits from was a site that searches for college scholarships for you, and they kind of need a lot of info for that. It was something that was actually useful to me and that I was interested in, so that's the only reason I did that.

Some offers need bank account card or credit card and Legal Gambling Age.

Some offers will result in recurring billing if you do not cancel the offer after recieving your credits.

Be careful when taking an offer. What I do is visit the website. Check out the deal, exactly where I need to click, I re-read the offer and what I have to complete to gain credits and then I carefully uptake the offer. I say this because if you visit the website the offer is on and start casually browsing the site, then the URL address tab in your Internet Explorer or Firefox might change and you will loose the referal link. In none of the websites I visited did they officially state that I would gain credits for Dragons Tavern, so be careful. Do not close your browser and re-open the page thinking the offer will be accepted.

blinkbox
Not many credits for this offer. But it says buy a film, actually you can rent. Either rent or buy. I tried the offer and just finished watching a 'A Scanner Darkly' with Keanu Reeves. So I recommend! Very high quality for streaming, if you are downloading a movie just be aware of download sizes, you might have a ISP broadband package with a monthly download limit. So downloading a whole movie might not be wise.

Lovefilm (UK only) is a good offer, but if you have already have a Lovefilm subscription or offer at your current address you will not be able to partake. I like Lovefilm, have been using them for ages, saying that I actually use their sister site SofaCinema as it seems faster in dispatch times. If you partake an offer from SofaCinema you cannot still complete an offer from Lovefilm or vice versa.

eMusic.com is what I personally would not recommend. I have tried this offer before on a non DT offer and never got my audio book. It was slightly complicated but basically I signed up and they could not offer the audio book for some reason which I have never heard of before. I cancelled the subscription and was not charged. Worth a try if it works, audio books are fun and I enjoy listening to the range from audible.co.uk

Gamehouse well I signed up for this. Pretty simple to sign up, enter your credit card and then when you have your credits, cancel the subscription. You might enjoy the games too.

Napster I'm already a Napster member, so most of these offers I believe are only for NEW members. Napster is pretty cool tho, free streaming music for a month and 5 free song downloads for 5. If you need the credits its a better deal than paying for the credits directly. Just be prepared to have phone credit or a landline to cancel the membership as you cannot cancel on the website. I waiting 10 minutes on hold.

250 business cards
Umm this offer is okay. I am actually a painter and decorator so its worth it for me to advertise. But the cards although stated as free, you will have to pay about 9.95 P&P in the UK. So basically its not free at all ! But seeing as I got a few jobs from the business cards it worked out okay.

Coral Bets A hell of a lot easier and works out better than your local betting shop. Although free coffee is a good reason to go to the local Bookies you will not get credits if you go to the shop You get credits for depositing online and placing a bet. I placed a low odds bet on Germany to beat Australia in the World Cup and won 5 leaving me with 15. Then you can cash out recieving your credits and money you have won or lost.

UseNeXT Have not tried yet, but willing to try. Seems okay.

Bingo
20 deposit for 742 credits. Best stick with Corels then eh? I am not sure if these offers allow you to deposit money, gain credits, and then withdraw your money without gambling.

Mills & Boon seriously if you think I am reading Mills & Boon then your crazy. Nice present prehaps for the mum or missus.

BBC Magazines Direct Debit can be a killer! You forget about the bills and then you are suddenly hit with bills you had no cash to pay. Its happened to us all I suppose but its a word of warning. Plus 197 credits doesn't seem much. Are any of the magazines on offer an interest to you for the subscription costs?? For me they were way too expensive. Had it been one of those get 3 issues for 1 deal then I might have been game.

Dark Orbit
I personally hate the game, its slow and laggy, but no credit card or bank details needed.

National Lottery
Sound investment I guess. I guess the minimum deposit is 1 with National Lottery grants improving the country well at least its for a good cause.

letssubscribe 168 credits for a magazine subscription. Personally its a joke. While the might offer good prices, you will probably find better offers by visiting the magazines home site. ImagineFX for the price listed here, isn't bad but seeing as you can choose the credits or a 50 Workshop DVD. I would go for the DVD valued at over 30. Other magazines like mens fitness, The Photoshop magazines, all offer 1 for 3 months trials. Better deals!!!

Gala Bingo 687 credits for 5. Excellent deal, must be 16+ and have credit card.

Bingo.com 1189 credits for 35 . There is a better deal than this. This is not worth it unless you really need cheap credits and have done every other offer so far.

21nova.co.uk 991 credits for 10. See above deal and do the math. Its a better deal for 21nova

zavvi 8 for 11 credits. This is a joke!

I personally don't like the surveys, they get confusing pretty quickly and its not the questionaires its the endless "offers" and "registration pages". Anyway good luck with them.

Coral Offer. Deposit 10 recieve 806 credits.

I've placed a Germany @ 8/15 for today. So if I win that bet I get 15. I won some cash on the Casino so far. If Germany win I have over 4000 credits without paying a dime.

Thats if the credits I recieve go through. They should they have done before.

edit: Just to confirm I recieved my credits. Just waiting for Germany

I've done a few of the free surveys/sign up for an email, and earned 95 credits so far. Might do some more later on, if I can't donate any time soon.

In my opinion the gambling sites are the best, there is a higher price to pay than the surveys but you can actually reclaim all your money back and even win some money.

Just bet on something you know will win. With Corel I placed a bet on Germany to beat Australia in the world cup. For Jackpot City going street on roulette is the best way to make an extra $10 because Jackpot City actually charge a few $ to withdraw your funds from you account. But if you dont wish to gamble then you are getting a lot of credits for a few bucks.
